Alpha was asked by a viewer regarding when clothes become dirty and how often to wash them. He asks if there is a test if you’ve already worn an item. Who cares if the clothing dirty when you are wearing the same item repeatedly during the week. This scenario has its own set of issues, circumstances, and consequences. People will know you as the dude who doesn’t change his clothes.
As Americans, we over wash things. We are obsessed with being clean, but the dirty definition is being questioned here. Dirty is being marked with an uncleaned substance. Alpha discusses different scenarios. A lot of times, we don’t have anything on your clothes. We do the ‘sniff test’ and then wear it again. One consideration is if it in direct contact with your body. Underwear gets one wear. Tee shirts can possibly worn twice although Alpha wears his once.
Clothing stretches when wearing so cleaning can shrink it back down. For example, denim can be shrunk down after repeatedly worn. Denim can be worn 4 -5 times between washing. Raw denim is not supposed to be washed for 6 months, however.
Dress shirts worn without an undershirt have to be washed more frequently due to odors and oils. Cleaning suits should be avoided as much as possible. Keep in mind that over-washing and over-dry cleaning can break down fibers of the fabric, decreasing the lifespan of the garment.
Don’t be hating on the ‘sniff test’! That’s a scientific way to decide if an items needs to be washed. You have to decide if it’s dirty and then what you are comfortable with.
