In this video men’s style, grooming, fitness and lifestyle expert, Aaron Marino of IAmAlphaM, AaronMarino, and Pete & Pedro discusses how he was on Shark Tank last year with Pete & Pedro after being on the show with the Alpha M. Style System. Prior to the appearance, he said that Pete and Pedro’s sales were solid ($800K), evenues were growing, and profit margins were great. He was SURE that they would want to invest.
Well, Alpha was totally wrong.
They didn’t want anything to do with Pete & Pedro. Instead, they wanted to invest in him as an influencer. Ultimately, he took the deal with Barbara on the show. But once he got home, he rethought it and didn’t take the deal. He didn’t take it because of YOU.
Alpha’s View Before Shark Tank
Before going on Shark Tank, he thought he was missing a big piece of the puzzle and not doing something right. For instance, he thought he needed a strategic partner to help steer the ship. He also thought the products needed to be in every retail store. When he didn’t get the deal, he was forced to go back to the drawing board and re-evaluate where he wanted to take Pete & Pedro.
Alpha’s View After Shark Tank
He came to realize that he would have to give control away, and he enjoys full control. He also changed his mind about retail. Pete & Pedro is his baby, and it’s successful because of him– but it won’t be a $10m a year company. And that’s okay because Alpha’s having fun with it.
Pete & Pedro Sales and Revenue
Sales after Shark Tank spiked but then they came right back down. There’s a misconception that Shark Tank will automatically create ‘big money’. Some products crush it on Shark Tank — some don’t. Alpha said the spike was good, but it wasn’t the biggest day or weekend. He’s had bigger days with YouTube. Pete & Pedro has doubled in growth since Shark Tank … but not because of Shark Tank. It’s because of Alpha himself.
The lesson is that sometimes you look for something to catapult you into the next level. But at the end of the day, you are the only one can do that… and it’s with hard work and time.
