What product is right for you? Hair Product Recommendation Tool
Aaron’s hair is just out the shower to demonstrate the difference of three different products. In this video men’s style, grooming, fitness and lifestyle expert, Aaron Marino of IAmAlphaM, AaronMarino, Pete & Pedro , and Ollie is using (1) Putty: high hold, matte; (2) Clay: medium hold, medium shine; (3) Pomade: medium hold, high shine. Check out how each performs differently in the same hair. He’ll be using the pre-styler SALT each time, as he always does.
Keep in mind there is always a learning curve with a new product. Also, if you find a product and you love it, you can always hit it with a high quality hairspray like Pete & Pedro FREEZE. It will lock it so you can set it and forget it.
Putty (high hold, matte) is Alpha’s every day product that he uses. The trick is to emulsify the product in dry hands. It will vanish, and then run it through your hair. Emulsification actives the product and allows the product to go into the hair and penetrate to the root. After applying SALT and Putty, he dries his hair. The finished result is volume and texture while looking dry. All day, his hair will chill like this.
Clay (medium hold, medium shine) is used after the pre-styler SALT. It’s super creamy, but you still need to emulsify. Dry hair after applying. There is a lot less hold, but because of the SALT you have texture although not as much texture as with Putty. The look is an amazing natural look with a nice amount of hold, and the very little to no shine is more casual too.
Pomade (medium hold, high shine) is applied after the SALT (P&P’s higher hold and higher shine is Power Pomade). Pomades are great for slicked over and side part styles. It goes in thicker than the other products. After heat from the hair dryer, he is not getting volume. The Pomade is much shiner with not a lot of hold. For classic styles, Pomade is an optimal & perfect option.
