Growing up, I was always jealous of kids that I perceived to have it easy with money and parents that weren’t divorced. I now realize that as you grow up with adversity and struggles, you must mature faster to survive. Being a man has less to do with your chronological age and more about your mindset and daily habits. I want to talk about a few things that turn boys into men.
DISCLAIMER: if you have tender or fragile feelings, I don’t want you to watch this. Some things I discuss may strike too close to home, and I don’t want to offend anyone.
Steps to transform into a man
- Stop being self-destructive. This includes drinking and excess and smoking weed. Your friends may be doing these things, but you shouldn’t. Do not hang out with losers if you want to become a man of confidence and success. I’m not saying they’re not good dudes, but you need to surround yourself with people who won’t drag you down.
- Don’t dress like a boy. One of the signs that you’re a man is that you start respectably. Boys dress sloppily and young. There’s nothing wrong with dressing youthful, but you won’t be taken seriously when you dress like a little boy. Up your style and your aesthetic.
- Stop skimping on sleep. You’re not missing anything if you go to bed early. Get a great night’s sleep, so you feel and look good. You can also kick ass and be successful.
- Make exercising a priority. You need to take care of your temple. If you’re not lifting weights or exercising, you won’t be as good as you can be.
- Stop eating processed crap. You need to eat high-quality food to look good and have long-term health. If you don’t know how to cook or don’t want to spend much time in the kitchen, check out Factor. Fitness starts with food, and Factor is America’s number one ready-to-eat meal kit. Everything is pre-made, and nothing is frozen.
- Be self-sufficient. Whether or not it’s cooking or taking care of laundry, you need to know how to do these things.
- Have financial stability. Make a financial plan and stick to a budget. Have the ability to delay gratification by pushing down the urge to run out and buy something you can’t afford. Make sure you don’t overspend. Save and invest!
- Put down the phone. You don’t need to surf TikTok or Instagram all the time. Suppress that urge. Time is your most valuable asset, so know how to invest it. You need to do the things to build yourself mentally, emotionally, and financially. Don’t consume yourself with apps that waste your time.
- Stop impulsivity. Men make sure everything is cool upstairs. Learn to deal with your issues, and don’t carry around a lot of hurt, anger, or resentment. Deal with your baggage and have hard conversations. Have the ability to forgive other people and yourself.
- Take life’s punches. As you go through life, you will have to struggle and go through hardships. These will form you into a stronger person. Men pick themselves up and don’t allow failures or temporary setbacks to define who they are. Choose to move forward in the face of adversity.
