Let me be crystal clear. You are running out of time if you don’t correct these things by age 40. If you don’t, you’ll live a hard rest of your life.
You won’t feel or look good, you’ll be broke, and you’ll be unhappy. Life will be more challenging than it has to be. As you age, you need to pay attention to what significantly moves the needle and get the following aspects under control by 40.
How to get these under control ASAP
Finances. Keep your spending under control, and if you don’t have enough money coming in, you also need to start thinking about this. Start with a goal of $10,000 in a bank account to begin retirement savings and zero out your credit cards.
Style. Dress like a man by getting your style straight. Upgrade and elevate your aesthetic. Paying attention to how you dress is one of the easiest things that you can do to be well respected and show respect for yourself. Clean out your wardrobe clutter, stop wearing clothes that don’t fit, and eliminate worn-out clothes. Shop for essential pieces to make you feel like a man and put together.
Fitness. If you don’t have a routine that you’re sticking to, you’ll end up with man boobs, love handles, and decreasing testosterone levels. Your muscles and testosterone will shrink unless you engage in heavy lifting, including bench press, squat, and deadlift. You can also do the sexy mirror muscles like bicep curls and tricep push-downs, but the heavy lifting is what will release testosterone and preserve muscle mass. Flexibility and daily cardio are also essential.
Diet. When you age, your metabolism slows. By the time you hit 40, it’s significantly slowed down. Limit the amount you eat out because you don’t know what’s in the food you’re ordering. It can have more calories, fat, and sodium than you think. Not eating out saves money, as well. Make sure you meal prep because the more you can plan, the better off you’ll be. I use Factor to help with my meal prepping –fresh, never frozen, and chef-inspired. Use code 50ALPHAM to get 50% OFF plus free shipping on your first Factor box.
Self-destruction. Eliminate binge drinking, sleeping around, recreational drugs, and behaving irresponsibly. If your friends haven’t grown up yet, you need to be the one who takes action.
Toxic people. Whether it’s somebody you’re dating, a spouse, or any other bad relationship, you need to be honest with yourself and not hang around toxic people. These people can hold you back and prevent you from being a happy, healthy, and feeling-good person.
Mental health. Deal with your past and get it under control. Perhaps go to therapy, have hard conversations, and not allow the baggage of your past to come with you into the future.
Daily routine. Have a healthy routine with a reasonable bedtime and a daily plan. Get over FOMO. Prioritize your sleep to be as successful and healthy as possible. Reverse-engineer the perfect day.
Relationships. You might need to make some hard calls. Do you want children? Do you not want to settle down? You don’t need to have a relationship. You don’t need to get married. You don’t need to date anybody. If you want to be single, be single. But by 40 years old, you need to choose a direction and a path because your biological clock is ticking. Be honest with yourself because you don’t want a midlife crisis at 45 or 50. It’s your life and choices.
