NSAIDs
NSAIDs are all drugs classified as non-steroidal noninflammatory drugs such as Advil, Motrin, Aleve, and ibuprofen. they reduce fever, inflamation, and aches-and-pains. Acetaminophen is different (Tylenol) which ‘doesn’t do much’. NSAIDs were originally created for those with arthritis. You don’t need a prescription and it’s pretty much available everywhere.
People think that NSAISs are totally safe because of availability; however, if you take too much, it can cause serious damage and even death. In this video men’s style, grooming, fitness and lifestyle expert, Aaron Marino of IAmAlphaM, AaronMarino, and Pete & Pedro tells his NSAID story.
About 6 years ago, Alpha owned a fitness center that was very stressful. He got tension headaches daily, which he habitually took 2 Advil daily for 4 -5 years. He didn’t think 2 per day was excessive, but apparently it was.
Later, when he had left the fitness center business, he went to the bathroom and his feces was black. It didn’t look right! He though he had an upper GI bleed. By the time he got around to calling a doctor, he was getting dizzy. By the time he got to the doctor, he needed a blood transfusion! He was a day or two away from death. He needed surgical intervention.
He hasn’t taken Advil since. He takes Tylenol now. He was actually getting rebound headaches due to his body wanting the Advil. Once he got off of the Advil, he didn’t get the headaches anymore. Be careful with NSAIDs!
