Some people are all or nothing about working out and diet — but Alpha has found that allowing yourself some freedom and flexibility is easier to maintain sanity.  First, consider the calorie of breakdown of alcohol which is calorie dense at 7 calories for 1 gram of alcohol. Also, a by-product of drinking alcohol is ‘diet disaster’ due to lack or willpower and control.

If you don’t want to blow your diet, reduce the carbs in each drink. And your gains won’t be killed if you drink a one drink or two, once a week or less. But if you are continually getting sloppy drunk and following-up with eating a bunch of shitty food, yes, it will be challenging to maintain your gains. What Drinks Are Best?

  1. Straight liquor – vodka, rum, bourbon, scotch, tequila, gin (1.5 ounces are about 95 calories)
  2. Mixed drink – add no calorie mixer to the straight liquor
  3. Light beer – about 100 calories and 5 grams of carbs
  4. Red wine – 5 oz is about 120 calories and 3.5 grams of carbs (more alcohol than light beer)
