BMR Calculator
In this video men’s style, grooming, fitness and lifestyle expert, Aaron Marino of IAmAlphaM, AaronMarino, and Pete & Pedro discusses the BMR (basal metabolic rate) and how to help you figure out yours.
Your body needs calories to maintain your existence which is your BMR (basal metabolic rate). You should know these basic calorie requirements. BMR takes the guess-work out. Use the calculator to calculate your BMR. Alpha’s BMR is 1,500, which is his baseline. He needs to consume 1,500 to allow his body to do its thing at rest.
If you increase your activity level, you are burning more calories than BMR. You will need to consume more calories to maintain. If you consume more calories than needed, however, you will have a caloric surplus that will be stored as body fat. So, if you are gaining weight, you are consuming more calories than what you need. Reciprocally, weight loss occurs at a caloric deficit. This calorie surplus and deficit are the gist of weight gain and loss.
