There’s nothing wrong with aging—it’s part of life. But there is something wrong with trying to look too young. When you start to mature, you will look awkward and like you’re trying too hard if you’re trying to look too young. I want to review how older guys look worse when trying to look young.
How and why aging men look like they’re trying too hard
- Hairpieces and hair transplants. Even if the piece is good, it’s bad. You’re always going to be self-conscious and trying to fix it. You’re going to be worried about it. Don’t do it. If you’re losing hair, go to Bosley, take something like Propecia, or take it short. You’ll be fine. Grow some facial hair, and look like a badass. Also, all hair transplants were not created equal. In the old days, they were super obvious. Now, you can go to a place that will give you an unnatural, super obvious hairline. This makes you look worse.
- Overly dyed hair on your head or face will look obvious and like you’re trying to look super young. Jet-black hair when you’re 65 is not youthful. If you want to cover gray, leave some gray out of it. Don’t make it jet black.
- Veneers. Big, perfect Chiclet teeth will make you look ridiculous. They are silly, obvious, and too bulky at times. The better option is to whiten your teeth with Crest strips or bleaching trays.
- Facial plastic surgery. Whether or not it’s injections like Botox or fillers, you’ll look frozen or too shiny. You need to age gracefully. Botox and fillers make you look insecure. Start a skincare routine such as Tiege Hanley. The earlier, the better for taking care of your skin. You need to do it every day. Wash your face twice daily, exfoliate twice weekly, and moisturize morning and night. All four products come in a Tiege Hanley Level One system, which consists of the fundamental products everybody needs.
- Dressing too young. Trendy brands will make you look awkward. Shop at stores that are not geared toward young guys. Don’t wear too tight clothes such as skinny jeans. Skin-tight shirts in the gym also make you look like a douche. Wear clothing that fits your body that is not too trendy or overly ostentatious.
- Super jacked. When you go into the gym and see a guy over 50 who’s super jacked, obviously on a very strong supplemental plan like TRT or something more, they look stupid. There’s a fine line between being in good shape for your age and looking ridiculous. Being ripped and shredded studly in your 50s or 60s looks weird.
- Using slang. If you’re over the age of 40 and you’re using too much slang, such as dope, you look like a dope.
- Being a party animal. It’s great if you want to go out, drink, and socialize, but if you’re hitting the club, go home and hit the bed instead.
- Dating too young. If you’re going after young girls, that’s a bit weird. If you’re 52 and dating a 20-year-old, this makes you look creepy.
- Too many accessories. Johnny Depp looked cool with all the accessories when he was younger, but now that he’s in his 60s, it looks weird.
- Trendy bags. You look stupid when you’re older and wearing a crossbody bag or a string backpack. Anything ultra trendy, whether or not it’s shoes, pants, or jackets, looks a bit weird, awkward, and douchey.
- Too much cologne. As they age, some dudes start increasing the number of pumps or sprays. Don’t be repulsive.
