Whoever said money can’t buy happiness didn’t build their dream gym in their basement. My new Alpha M. home gym is so badass and perfect. It’s a thousand square feet of unadulterated muscle-building, body-blasting amazingness. I want to tell you about the pieces I put together, which cost me about $60K for everything from the rubberized flooring to the StairMaster to other pieces that made my dream come true.
This is a knuckle bump to the little 12-year-old Alpha who started working out in his basement, which was my best decision ever. Since I started working out at 12, everything has revolved around fitness. Fitness has been my constant, allowing me to overcome adversity and feel confident. So, when I was building my new house, I aimed to build the most badass gym, and I did. I’m proud of this accomplishment more than the house.
The space is a thousand square feet, which you enter through iron doors. All items in the gym are matte black. All the equipment is Hoist except for the power rack, treadmill, and StairMaster. The dumbbells and barbells are from Tag. It’s all high-quality, which I felt was important when building my dream gym.
- First up is the Peloton bike.
- Also, I am proud of the StairMaster, which is the most kick-ass cardio (I love and hate it).
- I also have a commercial treadmill which is quite different than what you can find at Dick’s Sporting Goods or Walmart.
- I also bought a rack of preset barbells that go from 20-110 pounds and a rack of dumbbells from 5 to 75 pounds.
- My gym features a leg press, which is the proper leg equipment I wanted. Legs are hard to do without the proper equipment. Sure, you can do walking lunges, but I absolutely love a great leg press.
- The centerpiece of the gym is the functional trainer.
- I also got a power rack with all the different adjustments and weights.
- My gym also includes a bench and a special piece of equipment with which I can do dips, pull-ups, and climbing grips.
- I got a hamstring curl and leg extension combo to add to the leg equipment.
- I also wanted a sauna for my dream gym, so I added it to an auxiliary closet with much room. It gets hot up to about 200° F.
